I want my son to be a hero onscreen: Ranjeet Ranjeet, the - TopicsExpress

I want my son to be a hero onscreen: Ranjeet Ranjeet, the iconic baddie of Indian cinema, is probably the only villain from the industry who has the dubious distinction of committing 350 rapes onscreen! But after his comic stint in Housefull 2, the actor has started gettting offers other than those for villainous roles, though they are few and far between. Ranjeet was in Lucknow recently to shoot for a film called Desi Bomb, in which he plays a corrupt inspector, when we caught up with him. Though Ranjeet was here for a week, he hardly got time to explore the city. I have some friends here but I could not meet them; after shooting the whole day, we cannot socialize in the evening. I had met an MP at the Lucknow airport and he invited me to the hotel where he was staying. Par na toh main sharab peeta hoon, na cigarette, aur na mutton khata hoon, main bas naam ka villain hoon, Ranjeet says, laughing. The actor, who has played the antagonist in many Amitabh Bachchanstarrers is dabbling in Punjabi cinema as well now. I am doing 4-5 movies in Punjab. In Bollywood, I am doing Welcome Back, which stars John Abraham. Again, Im playing a gunda in the movie. Inn filmwalon ko bhi faayada hota, ek established villain mil jaata hai, meri shakal hee aisi hai, jokes Ranjeet. But the villian would want his son, Chiranjeev, to be a hero on screen. Chiranjeev is just 24, he is a smart, tall, handsome guy - perfect hero material. He has been approached for some big banner films, he was also offered Raanjhana, joh baad mein Rajnikant ke son-inlaw (Dhanush) ne ki thi. If you ask me, my son resembles Ranbir Kapoor a lot, he says. Many actors from his heydays have joined politics - Dharmendra, Raj Babbar, Shatrughan Sinha or Amitabh Bachchan so will he ever do that, Sunil Dutt asked me, rather pushed me, to join politics. But at that time I was enjoying my work. A lot of actors campaign for political parties, achcha paisa bhi milta hai. But I personally believe hum actors sirf bheed ikhatta kar sakte hain. We cant make the public vote for a candidate. And I would never want to campaign for any political party. timesofindia.indiatimes/entertainment/bollywood/news-interviews/I-want-my-son-to-be-a-hero-onscreen-Ranjeet/articleshow/25438024.cms?intenttarget=no
