Theres so much hard work behind the scenes that goes into it, and because of you, the people who stand behind me and make this machine move, others are finally catching on. My new single All I Meant” featuring Cole Jonique is a song that attempts to document the inner speech of a person who is trying to reconcile letting go of a damaged relationship, even after committing a good portion of ones selfhood to it. In the first verse, it attempts to map out the frame and template of co-dependency, and in the second verse, break that cycle of co-dependency by defining not what love is, but what love isn’t. The song is completed by a brief spoken word piece, which narrates the shattering of identity and out-of-body experience suffered during this kind of heartbreak, when a person knows it’s better to the leave the one they love than hang on selfishly. The chorus was originally penned by Willie Breeding, but later in the recording process, we called on Cole Jonique of Tate Music Group to lend her lovely vocals to the piece.
