I want to again thank everyone for the support we received during the diagnosis of Von Benjas Jersey Girl W27944907. This is the second puppy in Kizzys last litter to be diagnosed at Tufts University with this disease, the first being CH Von Benjas No Bull WS27944901. It seems that the rottweiler may be at an increased risk for developing this disease. Why? We dont know. We need to find the answers. One of the 2014 AKC Canine Health Research Grants underway is Defining the Genetic Basis for Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I will be making a contribution for the continuation of this research. I hope others will as well. People have been asking what the symptoms, causes, and treatment for this disease are and I think this article will help explain. The article states that Because there is often an underlying genetic element, you should refrain from breeding your dog. Noah, one of the most promising puppies I have ever known, will never be bred. In my opinion, it was the ethical and only decision that could be made.
