I want to apologize to everyone because in my haste to criticize Ray Rice I neglected to acknowledge the victim, Janay. From a male point of view, I was completely focused on the image of a man putting his hands on a woman and how angry that makes me. I shouldve been just as angry that the media was so willing to show this tape of Janay suffering this abuse, over and over and over again. So not only does she have to relive this terrible moment, but now she has to deal with the horrible comments, stares, whispers and finger pointing. Its all VERY destructive. I am going to go ahead and say it, get mad if you want, but the media loves to make us look like animals to further perpetuate stereotypes,(not defending Ray at all). It was the same with Michael Brown, show him taking cigars over and over again, make him look like an animal, justify this killing. Its nothing new, but some of you want to believe it isnt true. I really feel for Janay and hope they both can find the help they so desperately need. I also want to thank those who have posted articles from people who understand the victims side, and the syndrome related to it. I now understand even more. So thanks to you all. Lastly, please miss me with the what if this was you in that elevator? Would you want people judging you and scrutinizing you? I dont hit women.
