I want to be a part of this, but something holds me back. I dont feel right about taking pictures of people without their permission. That being said, I work in community mental health as a mental health crisis worker. I understand why there is HIPAA. I just feel uncomfortable taking pictures of people without their consent. So, if someone is on a public street doing whatever they are doing, there is no violation of their rights? I love street photography, but have been reluctant to take part. My sister is a photojournalist. When Duvalier left Haiti in the 80s, she was interning for the Miami Herald. Little Haiti erupted. She took some extraordinary shots. Most of my favorite pictures of hers are street life shots. I just wonder if its just me thinking I am violating privacy. Thanks for your thoughts.
