I want to begin this letter with a truth. I don’t feel entitled - TopicsExpress

I want to begin this letter with a truth. I don’t feel entitled to any privileges that others in my community dont have. I want to be able to take my children to school, pump gas and go into the convenience store for a gallon of milk and complete the daily errands and activities that you do . That is all. However, what is disturbing to me is the fact that most times I have to fight non-handicapped people to get a handicapped parking space and even after I occupy that space, I have to be vigilant of how the car parks next to me. I have (several times) not been able to get in my car because they park in the lined area between the spots. That area is there for a reason....I need room for my ramp to come out. What I apparently need to also become more alert to is another driver speeding into the space beside me and hitting the equipment on my van, my wheelchair or God forbid, my children. That happened to me today at Minit Mart. Well, he didnt hit me and London, but had just a couple more seconds passed, he would have. Please take the time to think when you run in for your lunch or that early morning cup of coffee that the five minuets you saved by parking in that spot could have made my day much harder. I would like to sincerely ask our local law enforcement to please please please pay attention to all of the company trucks that park in the handicapped spots at Minit Mart. It is unreal how many do & how dangerously they pull into those spots. I realize that this, just like everything else in life, is something not a lot of people pay attention to unless if affects you personally so that is the reason for this long rant. Thank you.
