I want to bring everyone up to date on my retirement - TopicsExpress

I want to bring everyone up to date on my retirement journey. After some great time spent traveling and getting better every day, the best way to say it is the chickens have come home to roost! I was in Florida and planning on a road trip to Seattle when I started experiencing some breathing problems. I cut my trip short and returned back to San Antonio. I had a bad Vertigo type event and barely made it back. After going to the ER, the doctors discovered what appears to be the main problem. Now I must warn you I am a survivor of a severe electrical accident back in 1969 and was more than lucky to have survived. I lost several body parts during that time. I lost half a leg, and a destructive path out my back took half a lung, three ribs, my spleen and part of my diaphragm. The diaphragm is the issue now. My abdominal parts are in my thoracic (chest) area and are around my heart and half-lung. So as a cardiologist cares for my heart to slow it down - it is working to hard - and a thoracic surgeon prepares to evaluate my condition, and this terrible vertigo type condition, I find myself back in San Antonio. Surgery is imminent and will be quite challenging for the correction needed to take place successfully. There is a chance surgery may not be possible due to the damage in the area from the original injury. So, any and all prayers will be appreciated. No worries, it is what it is. Right now just need the vertigo to go away. Remember my original post? The time for living is now. Do not value physical things. If you are hungry - eat, thirsty - drink. Give today in place of living tomorrow. Do not be afraid and know God is with you always. Just be certain to be with him. I will offer an update after the surgeon informs me of what can be done. Until then, John
