I want to congratulate Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown on his victory tonight. While we fell short today, our determination to fight for Maryland remains unshaken. I want to also thank Delegate Heather Mizeur for Maryland for injecting progressive values into the debate. I believe this state needs a change. I believe that we need to compete for jobs, and not settle for job losses; that we need to improve our schools for all our children, so that where you live and the color of your skin does not matter; that we must make good on President Obama’s pledge of health care reform; and that we must take on Annapolis special interests that put their own interests ahead of our families and our future. Most of all I want to thank you. The privilege of fighting for the people of Maryland every day for the last 22 years has been the most rewarding of experiences. I am proud of the campaign we ran, and I look forward to continue pushing for change, taking on special interests, and fighting to get things done.
