I want to discuss this video in this group as an example of the AlBaghdadi denial syndrome. This video is targeted at western liberals who -understandably- feel ashamed of their imperialist history. However, the two foreigners in this video take this a step further by blaming the west for being the indirect cause of terrorist attacks, such as on 9/11. Just stay away from us, be nice, and you have nothing to fear from us muslims is the take home message of the video. As you can tell from the subtitles, the video is not only targeted at western liberals, but can also be enjoyed by muslims as the rhetoric is very practical to them: the west is the cause of all our problems. No need to self-reflect for muslims, no need to condemn ISIS or extremism and not even a need to look for their causes. How very convenient! While I am happy to apologize for all the west has done wrong and still is doing wrong, I want to say: screw the rhetoric in this video!! As if islamic countries dont have foreign policies and never invade others. 9/11 was planned during Bill Clinton...because he occupied muslim countries? ISIS is a product of modern Islam, a largely homegrown problem of muslims. Most are ashamed of it and against it. Others spread videos like this to deflect responsibility.
