I want to encourage people with compacts and super-zoom bridge cameras to take photographs of birds. Many believe that good images are only possible with highly sophisticated expensive equipment. Images taken with specialist cameras and lenses will always have the edged technically, but that should not stop others from trying. One could have the best equipment available but without the basics images will suffer. So go on and try because practice makes perfect
