I want to give a quick update on my mom since so many of you have been so kind to ask.... Its been a little over 4 months since we became her caregivers. At that time, my mom was not engaging in conversation, she was sleeping most of the day, not able to dress herself and she was slowly slipping away from us. I have been an advocate for the power of optimal nutrition --when using the highest quality and purest supplements-- and I have also been a nutrition research junkie for over 30 years. So I was cautiously optimistic that we could impliment certain lifestyle changes which might at least slow the progression of this disease. I have to say there were days when I thought we were losing the battle...but it is now evident that our eforts are making a difference. Shes becoming more like herself as the weeks go on and continues to surprise us. And today....this happened. We are gaining ground on Dementia/Alzheimers. But the battle with this brutal disease is not over. It continues every day. And Im so grateful for my husband Doug who is so sweet and patient with my mom. Ive been talking about writing a blog about our journey and progress. And now I know that I MUST share what weve been doing just in case it could possibly help someone else. Ill be calling it The War for Rose. Stay tuned.
