I want to give another plug for multi-talented dancer/choreographer and composer Brian Simerson, whos raising funds for his own new dance company. If youre in the mood to be a patron of the arts, Ive enjoyed his work over the years with MOMIX, The Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts, NYU/Tisch etc. Ive seen him help bring out the best in all sorts of good dancers, such as Ben Youngstone, Jack Sprance, Arianna Ciccarelli, Tino Sauter, Katherine Lamagdeleine, Quincy Childs, Nicholas Gray, Carson Sandiford, etc. He believes in nurturing talents in dance, music, design--not just one talent, but many (the Renaissance man idea). And he wants to take a troupe of 12 dancers and seven musicians to the world-renowned Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival in late July.
