She is a civil servant both during the colonial era and after the Handover. She is a devoted Roman Catholic, and she is very good at Portuguese language. She tries her very best to conserve and inherit the Portuguese cultures despite of the emerging pro-Communist influences after the Handover. Recently, Ms. Florinda Chan was criticized by the Macanese press media and the Pan-Democratic Legislators concerning her act of reserving 10 graves from the Catholic Cemetery for her own purpose.
