I want to issue a challenge! Our hobby has changed a whole lot since I started flying RC back in 1974,I started with falcon 56 powered by a fox 40 and a kraft 3 channel radio with a brick servo ( servo and receiver in one unit). 90%of all models we flew, we had to build. Its amazing at the ARFs we fly today, the quality and price is unbelievable and due to this most guys now dont build anymore and newcomers to the sport probably dont even think about building. Heck! I dont even see kits advertised anymore and thats ashamed! My challenge is to lets all build a plane or modify an ARF, design your own plane and lets have a fly in next year dedicated to homebuilts, no ARFs allowed. I am in no way criticizing ARFS, they have helped keep our sport alive and well. Get involved, if you are an experienced builder help a new comer build a plane. I cherish the memories of guys like Charles Buchanan Don Hughes and Jeff foley helping out this new comer way back in the day.
