I want to know what my liberty-minded friends think of this. This blog post talks about the role of wealthy donors and foreign money in financing think tanks. It cites a study about the counter-climate change movements influence on policy reports and a NY Times article about donations from foreign governments, which might be compromising the integrity of research and creating lobbying behavior. The Baffler, being more progressive and anti-capitalist, takes it further: Should the Libertarian Gotterdammerung come to pass, this is what democracy would look like–not one person and one vote, but a power vacuum opened up by the destruction of the state, in which civic power is directly proportional to material acquisition. It would be a democracy red in tooth and claw. Thoughts on the study, NY Times article, and The Bafflers opinion?
