I want to post a disclaimer here... Not looking for any fights tho! While the little girl dreamer in me is rooting for California Chrome to be our next Triple Crown winner, there is also a big part of the horsewoman in me that is cringing. These are not HORSES. They are 3 year olds. BABIES that in my heart of hearts, I believe should not be asked to run this hard and this far. No saddle horse is asked to run barrels as a 3 year old or jump a 4 foot oxer. They do not normally carry a rider as a yearling. I wish the racing world would wait a little longer before putting this pressure on these babies, but it will never happen. The call of the dollar over-rides the equine welfare and its why we have Thoroughbreds breaking down bythe time they are 4. With that said... GO CHROME! Follow in Big Reds hoof prints and bring it home. But most importantly, a safe race to all. Come home safely Chrome.
