I want to post a statement. There is another change.org petition making the rounds on the internet. It is calling for the resignation of UTRGV President Guy Bailey. It has been my mission since I started the initial petition to do one thing...Preserve the Bronc name and logo for the new UT-RGV. Our second petition served two purposes, to denounce the Vaquero name selection and to reinforce our desire to preserve the Bronc. While we find Guy Baileys lack of attention and his disregard for the desires of the student body and alumni to be both problematic and worrisome; I am not endorsing nor denouncing a petition calling for his resignation at this time. It is still my goal to strongly urge Dr. Bailey to reconsider his own decision on the mascot and if not take actions utilizing the leaders of our community and our state to take action.
