I want to say Happy Anniversary to my little sister Diane Jones and my Brother-in-law Hugh Jones on their Pearl Wedding Anniversary. Who knew what lay ahead when, after living in Ferndale for a year or so, a neighbour said to me My nephew is opening a Deli in town. He needs all the custom he can get. Will you give him your custom? I went into said Deli a week or so later where the owner seemed to be quite nice but very chatty and self-confident. I went in there every week to buy my meusli, my St Illtyd cheese and other Welsh cheeses. He became a very good friend of ours. We went out for drinks most Saturday evenings and ended back at ours. I remember he promised to help us move into our new home but he forgot!! Eventually, a couple of months later, we had our house-warming party as my mum and Diane were up for a few days. That was the fateful meeting which changed Diane and Hughs lives. We took Hugh to the Island for a weekend and eventually he moved there to start a life with Diane. The rest, they, say, is history. I had the honour of being asked to be Dianes Matron-of-Honour at their wedding. Still got the paperweight Hugh bought for me and Ive still got my outfit in the attic! 30 years is a long time. 4 children. 7 house moves or is it 8? 3 grandchildren. Over the years you have had 4 dogs; 8 (?) cats; 1 canary; 1 budgie; hamster; guinea pig; 2 rabbits; numerous goldfish. Have I forgotten anything or got anything wrong?? Thank you for being there for us over the years and thank you for still being there for us. Howard and I didnt quite make our Pearl Anniversary, we were 4 months away from it when he died.
