I want to say thanks for everyone that chimed in on the new years - TopicsExpress

I want to say thanks for everyone that chimed in on the new years goals threads. My takeaway from it is this - Some of you are specific about what you want, and some of you are not. If its really important to make the things you wrote about come to fruition, then it should also be important for you to do a few things in regards to them. 1. Be specific - Saying you want more mass isnt. Saying you want to be a better friend, have more empathy, be more compassionate, etc arent specific enough. What do those things mean to you? Sit down and write out some of the things, or ALL of the things you think would give you the greatest chance of making that happen. 2. Have a plan - Even if you get specific about the things you want, its important to have a plan to follow in order to give yourself the best chance of seeing it through. 3. Understanding change doesnt come without need - Most people do in fact have new years resolutions because for a minute, they sit down and reflect upon what they wish they could attain, or have in their life. It feels very good to dream about these things and imagine yourself conquering the goals that matter to you. But the fact is, more times than not, people end up saying they want the same thing year after year. Unfortunately, most of us dont change until there becomes a need for it. Not a want, but a need. This could be because things happen in our life that force us to make decisions we were previously uncomfortable with, or because we get fed up with what was. But generally a paradigm shift doesnt happen until something causes us to refuse being comfortable anymore. Its up to you to find that need. No one can give it to you, and there is no pill to take that will change who you are. Its a mindset that what is has to become what was. Change is hard. Not just because of fear, but because we become creatures of habit, and being comfortable is important to us. But as the saying goes nothing will ever grow in your comfort zone. If something is truly important to you in life, then it will be reflected in your words, your actions, and your priorities. Dont flounder around for the next year only to be left telling people the goal for 2016 is essentially the same goal you had for 2015. A year gone, nothing gained. Nothing achieved. I hope everyone can come back here in a year and say that all the things they wanted to make happen did indeed happen. And that it happened because it was important enough to need it.
