I want to say thanks to each of you who have taken my #ALS #IceBucketChallenge. (Videos are posted on my FB page.) You are all such good sports, and your willingness to literally dowse yourself with ice water in support of a worthy cause just makes my heart smile. Yes, it may sound silly and everywhere you look right now theres a new YouTube video. But bottom line, a disease that people usually suffer from in silence is finally making some noise! My father-in-law, the legendary actor David Niven, passed away from this terrible disease in 1983. I never even got to meet him. He, and so many others, fought and are still fighting a courageous battle that literally sucks the life out of ones body until eating, communicating, even moving a muscle becomes impossible. I am proud that an inane act like pouring ice water over my head may help enlighten and raise money to help find a cure. I have also learned that coming together to laugh at videos that are this silly is very, very good medicine. Please... when the last ice bucket is tipped over... lets vow to keep #ALS in the forefront so we can help end this horrible disease.
