I want to share something wonderful that happened today at the indoor Olympic pool where I swim. The pool is covered with a huge tent that stretches over two large pools. There werent very many people there when I arrived today. As I began to swim, I became distracted by a tiny hummingbird that was trapped inside the enclosed building. The bird looked lost and exhausted and was sitting on the wires at the top of the tent. He would fly for just a second and light again. I felt so bad for the little, trapped bird that I began asking God to make a way for the little bird to get out. Minutes passed and nothing happened. I started pleading with God to lead the hummingbird to the small door that opened to the outside. I reminded God about the verse where Jesus said not one sparrow falls to the ground without the Father knowing about it. I said, I know you are good and kind Lord...I know that you care even more about that little bird than I do! I kept waiting for the little bird to fly toward the door, but it didnt. I said to God, I care about that little bird, Lord! All of a sudden, as I continued to pray, the little hummingbird flew all the way from the top of the tent above me and landed on the water right in front of me!! I scooped him up in my hands and walked up the stairs and out of the pool. I carried the little bird in my open hands to the door and walked outside. The hummingbird sat there for a bit and then began to fly. He hovered in front of my face for a second as if to say thank you! and took off. As I was walking back to the pool, God showed me that yes...He cares about little things as much as He cares about big things. He showed me that He hears us when we pray and wants to answer us, and that He often wants to involve us and use us to be the miracle for someone else that we are asking HIM to do. God cares about what we care about. He is good and He wants us to know that we are even more precious to Him than the little birds.
