I want to start off with a huge complement to the snow removal - TopicsExpress

I want to start off with a huge complement to the snow removal team at the City. A big snowfall about a week ago and the snow removal policy kicked in and a terrific job. Another busy week of stuff for the Mayor, meetings and attending functions which seemed to consume the week. I dont want to go into too much detail about the week but rather what is coming up next week and a bit of a news story this week in the paper. Council (I think) or maybe the Mayor were criticized over the lack of communication and or blindsiding some of the developers with the proposed zoning amendment bylaw which was given first and 2nd reading 2 weeks ago and will have a public hearing on Monday. The issue for me is about communication. The number 1 strength and weakness identified in most leadership folks is communication. No matter how effective a person believes they are in effectively communicating you can always look for ways to improve. I have had very positive feedback from folks about this site and they seem to enjoy getting regular updates on what the city and the Mayor are up to. I also have attempted to make myself available in person and thru the media, both tv, radio and the newspaper. I believe I need to continue to look for ways to continue to ensure I do all possible to inform and share on behalf of Mayor and Council. There is a real sense of weight these days with the accountabilities as Mayor. I am extremely concerned about the zoning bylaw as it is probably the most important work council does on behalf of the community. This zoning bylaw can have a significant impact on the future of our city. I am also very concerned about the Memorial Arena and Curling rinks being shut down as a result of the ammonia leak and or problems with the chiller. Hopefully we can get this addressed as soon as feasibly possible, administration have been working non stop on solutions. The election is in the final days and I know all of the candidates are feeling the pressure of getting out the voters. I want to thank them all for putting up their hands to serve the community, you need to walk a mile in their shoes to really know...Finally a heartfelt and sincere note of condolence to our friend and neighbour Kay Henderson. Walter passed away last week and his celebration of life was held yesterday. Walter was an absolute gentleman and a real pioneer in our area and city and will be missed. I also was told the other day the good friend and long time resident Dick Sequens passed away the other night, so sad, such a great citizen of our community for a long time. RIP Walter and Dick. Ps: I posted a total of 6 times on this facebook site about the residential development committee, how we were working to engage folks in the discussion, not sure how many interviews I did on CJDC, so I honestly do not feel badly that someone feels like they were blindsided. I am doing this job as Mayor for the community and citizens, and I appreciate the investment community cause that helps build our community but I care about what we are going to look like in 30-40 years!!!
