I want to surrender my dog, said the man to the officer on the - TopicsExpress

I want to surrender my dog, said the man to the officer on the other end of the line. Realizing it was pouring down rain that morning, the Animal Control Officer wasted no time jumping in the van to pick him up. When she arrived, she found a large puppy double-chained to a tree, the chain tangled so terribly that the dog was allowed only two feet of movement. There was no food, water or shelter in sight; he was standing in a mess of mud as the cold rain continued to soak him. The officer brought him back to the shelter and bathed him. He was given food, water, warmth and a name—Prince. The eight-month-old Terrier/Labrador mix was excited to be out of the elements and immediately started to feel better. Sporting a regal coat, Prince is just happy to be here at HSKC. Hes goofy and playful and great around other dogs. However, Prince did not receive the training that all puppies need to learn. He needs to be housebroken and leash-trained. Prince is quite food and toy-motivated, so we believe he will pick up these skills quickly. Since he likes to jump and quite energetic, we would suggest he go to a home without very young children, but Prince would be fine with older kids. If you have the time to teach this pup the things he needs to learn and would like to give Prince a home, stop in and meet him when the shelter reopens Tuesday morning at 10am!
