I want to take a minute to talk about my Mom! She blesses me every single day with her love, support and encouragement. Today she blessed me with her wisdom and sheer determination. Stan had a huge pile of wood stacked up against our fence, which is also Moms fence since she lives next door. The wood has been there since March, when we had our deck resurfaced. The goats found it a few days ago and have been climbing it and hopping over the fence into Moms yard. Mom has azaleas growing in her yard and they are deadly to goats. Thus began the quest to keep them out of Moms yard. No matter what we did, short of moving aforementioned huge stack of wood, the goats continued to use it as their springboard to the magical land of Moms yard. Just to give you the whole story, for those of you who may have never shared your life with goats, they are herd animals. This sounds really sweet except they tend to forget each other and go off on tangents without reporting to the head goat. That being said, if one or two of the goats decided to make the vault into Moms yard and then remembered they were not with the herd, you could hear them bellowing for a mile. Folks think goats baa nicely, which they do, but when they get into a thither they scream! LOUDLY! Tonight Mom and I held a conference in her front yard and an executive decision was made to move the wood. It had to go. I looked at Mom and said, Do you think we can do it? Just the two of us? and she said what she has said to me my entire life, We can do anything!” We began moving wood. Because my Mom was always Maxs first mate any time he was building something, she learned all about wood from one of the finest, most talented craftsman in the United States. This meant that every single nail had to be pounded down, the wood had to be organized according to size and a certain side of the wood had to be face up. Now I would like to think that I am physically strong, but my little Mom was still going strong when I was begging for a 5-minute break. We got down to the last 35 boards and decided we would have to finish tomorrow because we were losing the light. By this time my arms were shaking, I was soaked from head to toe and Mom said in her sweet voice, I told you we could do anything!” Well, thats all it took to kick my tired self back into gear. We got the remaining 35 pieces of wood organized and away from the fence, to Moms specifications, with the opposite side up. We will finish pounding nails and moving them to the big stack, lined up in meticulous Mom approved order, tomorrow. She is right, together we can do anything! I praise God for allowing me the honor of being her daughter.
