I want to take a moment to acknowledge the 100th anniversary of the shooting of Franz Ferdinand. Without a doubt, the single most important and influential event of the last 100 years. It changed the course of history, and set us on a path that would lead the world to two World Wars, a cold war, countless other conflicts, as well as arguably the rise of communism, the fall of colonialism, the rise of American hegemony and, without exaggeration, almost every other significant event in the 20th century. Its scary to think that a man of such little importance, only 19 years old, could define the course of the next 100 years, with a spur of the moment opportunity that fate inexplicably placed at his feet. That Gavrilo Princip, a man who by all rights shouldve lived his life in complete obscurity, would end up being the man who would ultimately cause the complete destruction of the world he lived in, and the creation of an unrecognizable new world order. And now begins the process of remembering the 100th anniversary of that long and steady destruction. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. inserbia.info/today/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Gavrillo-princip.jpg
