I want to take the time, since this is Fossil Week here at Rock - TopicsExpress

I want to take the time, since this is Fossil Week here at Rock Hounds, to mention a few practices exercised by certain Moroccan Dealers and Prep Houses when it comes to Fossils found in that area. These practices might actually belong on the Gem and Mineral Scammers FB page. Some will not even care. First: many fossil shark teeth have been repaired with a sand mixture to give the false impression that they are whole. Sand and flour has been used. Im sure other mixtures as well. Second: Any fossil that can be cemented together with a concrete mixture will be. We once bought an Ammonite to resell that had been broken and put back together without disclosure of any sort. Third: Orthoceras. Often times these are shaped to look bigger than they actually are. Ammonites as well. Buyer beware. And Happy Hunting!
