I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the musicians that made This Hotel Room, Suite 19, one of the best ever. One thing that unites all of us ParrotHeads is the love of music and you folks were the best! Jambo Joe Bones led it off on Friday, and then our old friend, Jim Hoehn with special guest guitar wizard and singer/songwriter, Mary Cutrufello, who had no clue what to expect but stepped right up and blew everyone away with her guitar playing and singing, followed with a great set of Jim originals and a couple of covers including The Road Goes On Forever and the Party Never Ends. Jeff Becker, Ali Gray, and Mark Knoll - Two Hicks and a Chick - closed out the official portion of Friday night and had everyone up, dancing, and singing along. In fact, they inspired probably the first ever Conga Line to Warren Zevons Werewolves of London. I think you got quite a few new fans with your eclectic set list and great vocal harmonies. Michael R Miller, Allen Patterson, Mary, and Robert Bertelsen kept the music going and led the This Hotel Room Coed Choir in a stirring rendition of Hollow Man until the electrician threw the breaker on the amps. Mark Stary and Brian K Johnson made their second appearance by the pool and, just like last year, made a great start to the day. Jim and Mary with special guest Howie Golub kept the musical heat turned up all afternoon by the pool. The pool area was definitely a tropical island even when we took a trip to the dark side. We all moved to the ball room for dinner and Jambo Joe Bones got us all in the mood for our Saturday night headliners. After several years of trying, we finally convinced The Boat Drunks that they really wouldnt fall of the edge of the earth if they crossed the Minnesota border (I dont think Jake was convinced until he saw the Minneapolis skyline.). What a phenomenal Another Saturday Night it was with Aaron, W Jake, Andy, Howie, Mike, Larry, Dyke and soundmand Todd (and guest vocalist, Jim Hoehn, for Calling in Gone). WOW! WOW! The dance floor was packed all night and everyone was still singing along with the band on all three of the closing songs by that other band from Champaign, IL, REO Speedwagon. Now that you know that Minnesota is not just a bad figment of some weathermans imagination, you guys are welcome back any time! Again, thank you all for making this a most memorable weekend of music on the Quaint Island of St MinneSomePlace in Paradise! You TROCK!!
