I want to thank all of you for your kind responses and willingness to want tough love rather than all the glitter,hype that is so prevalent in our profession. It seems to me that we should be focusing all of our attention on keeping our salon full with customers and attracting new customers.Staff retention is another area we must address. No salon can grow and raise prices with a constant merry go round of staff turnover. It also seems to me we should be dealing with all the obstacles that are causing so much pain owners and hairdressers are experiencing trying to make a decent living and and grow a profitable business. We should also address the deep rooted problems such as turnover, lack of an apprenticeship program, finding and keeping quality hairdressers ,rent and commission wars,booth rental ,and staff pirating,that is causing so much havoc to our colleagues and within our profession. If everyone would play by the same rules,we would all benefit. Salon owners ,you must speak out. My loyalty is to those of you who work hard everyday to earn a better living and build a successful and profitable business I represent no special interest groups . The focus is on you,personally,professionally, and financially. I certainly know the struggles many of you are experiencing;our profession has not adapted to change. I need you to spread the word,I cannot fight this battle alone. You can follow the crowd or adapt to change and join our grass roots movement. We need each other more than ever.
