I want to thank all of you who came out last night to support the Campaign to Elect Tim Hughes. Your words of encouragement were greatly appreciated. Your financial support was awesome. And I got some great advice on how to run a campaign and what to do once elected. I learned a long time ago that all of us together are smarter than just one (i.e., me!). As I mention this to a group last night they quickly made me realize how true it is. I was amazed at the ideas, the perspectives and the experience that folks were willing to share; I’m glad I was in a position to listen. And I plan on doing a lot more of that in the future. Back to the fundraiser, the band was wonderful (no surprise there). Having Ava Nicole Hughes and Will Boyd play the heads freed me up to mingle. Thanks to Andrew LaPrise, Robert Grier and Jordan Boardman for the great sound. Of course, we were all pleasantly surprised when Kelle Jolly took to the stage to sing a couple. I was quite honored. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Eddy Fernandez and Angela Fernandez did a great job with the food (as always). In addition to some of her normal fare (e.g., Cuban Sliders, Artichoke Dip, Bruschetta) Angelas and her staff served Beef Empanadas; something not on her menu (Boy, did I feel special.) And in case you’re wondering what happened to the leftover food? The majority of it is going to feed those less fortunate. And last, but not least, thank you Meredith Willson, for organizing the event, getting the word out, and being a great treasurer. I couldn’t have done without you.
