I want to thank all of you who have followed my journey through my treatments. You all were a source of encouragement to me. Lori and I are claiming now that I am cancer free and in six weeks that will be confirmed for us. I met several men through the nine weeks and many had it a lot rougher than I did, they were going through radiation and chemo. We would all get to know each other and laughing about some of the things we had to do to prepare for our treatments, always great for a good laugh, which many of these veterans needed. The two women who treated me every day were amazing, everyday Tony would say my last name wrong, but I didnt care as you could tell he was genuinely concerned for my health. Dorothy and Linda were my nurse practitioners and we would always shared fun stories about nutrition and my high blood pressure, which was usually due to just getting done with my treatment. As I left there today my last day on the table, leaving the room I was handed my diploma for completing my treatments(9 weeks 5 days a week), I thanked Amber and Cathy for being a big part of my healing and I told them I pray for them often. As I wheeled myself past them tears welled up in my eyes, Im not always that emotional but I felt victory over cancer and I think trying to keep a good attitude through all of this just came poring out of me. Mady at the reception desk took my picture with my diploma and I took my last candy that they have as a treat for us after our treatments. There were volunteers in there all the time to cheer us up, or just sit with us and help put the big puzzle together they had on the table. I made a couple of calls to family to share the news, I still have more to call. But most importantly I got to go home to Loris loving arms and as she always does after I get a big hug and a kiss, says; what can I get you to eat babe, Im going to the store do you want anything special. What she doesnt always know is she is that something special I want each and every day Im alive. She is the one who finally convinced me to go ahead and get this done. For some reason she wants me around a little longer and I kinda like that. Well that part of my journey is a wrap, on to whatever God has in store for me next. Stay tuned, Im not leaving any time soon. Rocky Whan April 3 2014
