I want to thank all the people who voted for me today. Although I was hoping for a different outcome, I truly respect the people’s decision. Congratulations to Lloyd on his victory. I wish him well as he goes to Halifax to work on behalf of all the people in our constituency. The challenges we face in rural Nova Scotia were given a full airing during the campaign, and we must all work together to begin to meet these challenges. I want to commend both Lloyd and Jim for how they ran their campaigns. Seeking public office is always a difficult thing to do. Once again I want to express gratitude to my family and to all the volunteers who helped me with this campaign. I appreciate your hard work and support. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and talk with so many people over the past several weeks, and it was an enriching experience for me. I share your love and concern for our rural way of life.
