I want to thank everyone for the great pictures and info about Ray Barracks. When I first got to Germany 6/63 I was with HQ CO Mortar Platoon (36th Inf) with 1st LT Boyersmith, Airborne Ranger, West Point graduate as our CO. He was a outstanding Company Commander, I can remember when I got to my company, everyone was in the field, I was so weak and still sick, from crossing the ocean, I was struggling to carry my duffle bag up to the second floor, and out of no where LT Boyersmith, said Let me help you solider, and picked up my bag, threw it on his shoulder and flew up the steps like they didnt exist. I finally got to the top and tried to salute him, he said do that when I was feeling better. I was finally transferred to C CO a line CO as a rifleman, until I left to come back home on Operation Santa Claus, was glad to be going home, but hated that ship trip again. I came over on the U.S. Bucket, and went back on the U.S. Patches. In December it will be 50 years, and I had forgotten a lot but now with being a member of this outstanding group, am starting to remember more all the time. THANKS EVERYONE & GOD BLESS!
