I want to thank you all for your support of AB 271 and your deep commitment to alleviating childhood poverty. As you may know, AB 271 was held by the Senate Appropriations committee today, which means it will not be advancing to the Senate floor. While this defeat may seem crushing, know that this is just the beginning in our fight to repeal this unjust and discriminatory rule. This movement has gained incredible momentum, and it would not have been possible without your passionate support. There will be a day soon when we no longer hand a blank check to the prison system while short-changing our most vulnerable children with a promissory note. But it can’t happen unless we continue to fight. Thank you again for your perseverance and I look forward to continuing to work with all of you towards a brighter tomorrow for California’s children.
