I want to thank you for your post. They had sectionals today and obviously Tommy couldnt compete. They have a very strict rule that you have to break 18:00 to letter and Tommy kept saying three seconds over and over again on the way home referring to his time right before the fracture. His coach told me today that he making Tommy only the 2nd kid is coaching career to letter without the time! I dont want to tell him as I want the coaches announcement to be a surprise at the banquet next week. It was tearing my heart out not too tell him. His coach told me he was one of hardest workers he has ever coached and he injured himself trying to do even better by running over and above the already hard workouts prescribed. He said he knew Tommy would have continued to lower his times and would have easily broken the standard. The only other runner he did this came back and went to state the next two years as an individual runner. Your post seem to give him some solace. I cant wait to see his face when he finds out!
