I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween! This night - TopicsExpress

I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween! This night can be used for so much evil, so please keep your children close and be watchful of others. Growing up we were not allowed to participate in Halloween and I can see both sides of staying away and letting kids have fun, but I am more careful because of my parents lessons and a terrifying experience I had as a child. I share this story so that others may be more alert. When I was 8 or 9 I was playing in my front yard when a man pulled up in a little brown Toyota. He was completely average and someone that goes by without a second glance. He had brown hair, brown eyes, and brown glasses (this was the late 80s). I knew better than to talk to strangers or take candy from strangers, but this guy stopped right in front of my house and he had the cutest puppy. He did not scare me or make me think this man was bad news. He even seemed nice! He apologized for interrupting me but he was concerned about this puppy he had found a few houses down and he just knew the owner was looking for him. As he talked I moved closer to his car to get a better look at the puppy. Again I was made to feel completely at ease because of the way he talked and he had a dog. I told him I didnt know anyone with a puppy but that he sure was cute. He had me and I didnt even know it yet. He asked me to look closer to be sure and as I did he asked me if I wanted to hold him and then maybe I would want to keep him. Now Im 8 or 9 and all rational thinking was not on my radar, nor was I concerned because I was still standing in my own front yard with my Mama right inside. As I reached out of pet the dog the man reached his arm out the window to hand me the puppy and as soon as I grabbed on to the little fur-ball, the man turned monster and grabbed me. I remember panic and fear like it was yesterday! I knew he was a bad man and he was hurting me, but I also knew that I couldnt get away because he was so strong. Now let me pause to tell you what was going on with my Daddy right before this all happened. He was at work and he didnt normally get breaks to come home during the day, but God laid it on his heart that he needed to get home and to get home now. He couldnt explain why but he knew that a simple phone call was not what the Lord had in mind. My parents have always demonstrated obedience to the Lord and I am so thankful for that example! Now as I was struggling but I was already halfway in his car, screaming for help when out of nowhere the man immediately dropped me to the ground and took off in his car. What I didnt know right away was that my Daddy had been rushing home when he saw what was going on from the other end of the street. He raced down the road with his horn blaring and a look of rage that I had never seen on my Daddys face. I felt an instant rush of deep relief and safety! My Daddy was obedient to God and even though he didnt know why he came. My Daddy saved my life that day because God sent my Daddy to protect me. That day scared us both on so many levels but more than that I learned that we dont always need all the details but when God says to act, ACT! I dont share this personal story to hinder anyone from anything, but it could happen and as parents and children we have a responsibility to be alert for evil and to be in tune with the Holy Spirit as He will guide us if we are listening. Be safe and have fun tonight! Be encouraged, loved, & blessed
