I wanted to apologize to everyone for my time since my last update on Susan Sims. I became caught up in all her daily victories and setbacks and failed to involve the ones that prayed her thru so many battles. We had a fall last Saturday that involved a night in the hospital for testing to make sure that no further damage was caused to her spine. Well I can safely say that she will no longer be utilizing the stairs. I have to really get a more permanent solution to prevent any future falls. We survived this incident fairly injury free or so we thought. Susan has been experiencing what she explains as pain that is like an electrical charge that starts from her spine and continues around her chest and ends with a burning pain. She has also been experiencing weakness and numbness and tingling In Her shoulders radiating to her fingers. Now we know that she had a herniated disc at C5 that may need surgery to repair but it would be down the road between 1 year out to as long as 10 years out. We went to Atlanta Medical Center today for a follow up with her Neurosurgeon and X-rays. Well the X-rays show good healing in the spine and surgical sights but the herniated disc is worsening. Now due to the fact that her symptoms are worsening we were told today that she will be scheduled for the surgery on her neck on January 23rd and will be required to stay in the hospital for observation after surgery. Now you have to understand that this was a kick in the teeth for me but more so for her. I watched my bubble outgoing wife hit the dirt quickly. We shared a good cry in the doctors office and scheduled the third major surgery in a two month time. Now our options were very limited as with out this surgery she will be doing permanent damage to her nerves and could lead to permanent paralysis from the shoulders down. Now that we have the surgery scheduled I have seen her mood take a dive. She is no longer happy go lucky. I know that this surgery is weighing heavily on her. I have in my opinion over extended my request for prayers for this lifetime and the next also, but I have no other means to supply Susan with what she needs for her healing other than asking each and every one of you to send your voices up to heaven that she will make it thru a third major surgery with no lasting spinal / nervous system damage. I ask that you keep her surgeons in your prayers. Also if you could reach out to her with your well wishes to help me pick her back up and dust her off. So here we go again. I promise to keep the updates a little closer to each other. Thanks and God Bless each and every one of you.
