I wanted to be a doctor. I was that girl obsessed with her grades in high school and college. Then my junior year, I met Andrew at UGA. Suddenly those career dreams became clouded with dreams of being a wife and Mom. A wise pre-med advisor told me to ask 3 female MDs how successful they were at work/life balance. I spoke to an ER doc, pediatrician and internist. All 3 broke into tears about the regret they had at missing so many motherhood moments. I get to put my kids on the bus and be there when they get home. Sure I miss a lot of Saturdays but I get to control all the other days. I didnt end up saving lives for a living but thanks to wise guidance, I got to create a family/home that was always my lifes dream. Even on my longest work day, Im still so grateful for the road less traveled.
