I wanted to post a positive since a lot of the time (for me and many others) its a lot of negative with Chiari. Ive had two decompressions and 8 other brain surgeries for IH and infections. My last decompression was done by Dr.Rosner in November of 2013. Before that surgery I was barely able to walk with a cane. I could barely walk a few minutes without feeling like I was going to fall out. During my pre-surgery testing it was determined that my brain stem was completely cut off from blood flow and I had close to zero CSF flow. I was going to die from this. I had my tilt table test prior to surgery and I failed in the first minute. I felt like I was dying and I think the cardiologist was concerned I was going to too. Im not exaggerating here, just explaining. I have a hard time on the boards sometimes because I know how this feels for all of us. To be handed this sentence at times can be more then one person can handle, but to see others pain is even harder. Today I had my year post-op testing. Its later then a year because I was in the ICU for 3 1/2 weeks in october-september because I got severe perotinitis that they thought was going to my brain because of a VP shunt. External shunt and now a VA shunt. My excitement is today for the first time in a long time - I GOT GOOD NEWS! I had a new tilt table and I didnt fail within five minutes, or ten, OR AT ALL! I passed the whole freaking thing. That is a miracle. I just thought Id share because I know you folks can understand. Much
