I wanted to share a little story from an intervention I am working - TopicsExpress

I wanted to share a little story from an intervention I am working on at the moment... 2 weeks ago, I met a client to discuss his needs and co-design an AI intervention. During our conversation, he mentioned to me that one of the team members is visually-impaired and asked that I liaise with him to arrange for the AI interview to be translated into Braille. I decided to speak to John (not his real name) who is the team member the client refereed to and find out how to make the workshop more accessible. Together we agreed what needs to be prepared and translated into Braille in advance as well as other ways to make the experience accessible. At the end, I asked John: So far, our conversation focused on your accessibility needs but Im curious - tell me, what can you do that no one else in the team can? John responded you know, its a good question that no other trainer or facilitator I worked with ever asked! He proceeded to tell me that he has a very good memory and that he is particularly good at noticing differences and changes in tones (how people speak). We agreed that I will check-in with him during the breaks to find out what he noticed as this could provide useful insights. To me, this is just a small example of the power of AI. It helps me tap possibilities and to move a conversation beyond a persons existing limitations and accessibility needs to empowerment and a real resource. I am grateful. The actual intervention will take place next week and I very much look forward to working with John and the rest of his team.
