I wanted to share an experience I had at the hospital recently. First of all, my anonymity as an admin is important to me, since I havent told many I was ill, outside of my obvious disease. I found out I had cancer recently and needed a whole hysterectomy. I needed to spend one night because of my pre existing condition. A girlfriend gave me a ride home (it was just more convenient all the way around). I am unable to move my legs...at all. They are dead weight. I stand and pivot, done this for years. Long story short, a goofy transfer chair that opens from the sides..and feet rests that dont move, did not agree with my plan. I ended up falling to the running board of the car. The young man helping informed us this was a no touch hospital (when we asked for a hand). As he walked away, he was laughing. Im a pretty tough cookie and took mind over matter and got myself up somehow, but this left me with a bad taste in my mouth from my experience, and that overshadowed all the compassionate, empathetic, helpful people that I dealt with over those 2 days. Lesson to take out of this was appreciate those that deserve it, so few of them in our youths today....
