I wanted to share some good news because even though I have had a bit of a rough time lately, Im still working hard and I do still love life and aspire to be better today than yesterday. Drumroll, please! I was asked to accept a nomination to serve on the library board. I accepted and was voted in last month. I will begin my service next week! This is truly an honor and a dream come true for me. I was asked last year and as heart wrenching as it was, I had to say no because I was just graduating and getting married and I was burned out. Not to mention the fitness park was just getting started. I couldnt believe I was calling to tell her, No, I dont want my dream to come true. But, no matter what, my family comes first and I really needed to fulfill my commitments to them and my current projects. So she agreed to call again in a year when things settled down. I still was uncertain about it just because the kids were having a rough time and they really needed every minute I can give them. But she outlined the level of involvement required and it is so reasonable, they probably wont notice the time I spend on it. Plus, it shows a great example for the kids. The other great thing is that I was asked to write for an additional catalog at work. Im excited for this and I have been making it well known that should the opportunity arise, I wanted a chance at it. It arose, and I got the chance! I know there have been others who have been championing for me, too. Colette Bonavita! Im very excited and I just had to get busy yesterday but I did think about doing a Tom Cruise kind of jump on the little couch by my cubicle! Haha! Last of all but certainly not least - I am THRILLED to say, Noah was asked to serve as a mentor to the freshman kids coming into the high school next year. He will be giving tours and is going to receive a full days worth of training on leadership, conflict resolution and mentoring. Wow. What a cool opportunity! Im so proud of him and the teacher(s) who recognized his leadership abilities. He mentioned he might be interested in the dual enrollment program at St. Bonaventure. Huh. We shall see! And there you have it. A little bit of excitement going on with us! Happy hump day!
