I wanted to share this; This is an interesting rant from Kelby KC Cannick of Makin It Magazine after reading this I wanted to share my opinion and sentiments; The music industry doesnt want a smart professional person who has character plus values. What the music and entertainment world wants are people who are willing to sacrifce everything for fame and devalue their sense of worth to be on top of the world so to speak for a few years. Then, a few years later most realize they have no money, no real value, or any legitimate tender available (assets). Just like this rant I have been black balled and when I step foot in certain industry networking events people give me the infamous side eye because I tell the truth. I pose this question; Why scheme and get over on people for a quick buck (dollars)? When you can build a legitimate business and create long lasting revenue & wealth? The music community has been trained mentally to live in the moment, this is why there are so many hip-hop,r&b, djs, & music representatives who are legends broke and have nothing to fall back on. I stepped away from music for 2 years now and I realize how important traits like customer service, business etiquette, branding, marketing, demographics, economics, and finance are to the entire business. People will continue to shade the people who handle proper business, but those are the same people years later who ask for assistance, plus try to figure out what went wrong and why no one will ever work with them again........... In order to succeed and be successful you must first educate yourself, learn how to adjust to your environment, be willing to step outside the box, and make your consumer/fan your best friend........ makinitmag/blog/features/my-mlk-day-rant-hip-hop-helping-and-hustling
