I wanted to share this because I was incredibly moved with the speech, not because I am a woman but because of the strength and courage it took to give. Emma Watson delivered this powerful speech to invite everyone, especially men, to take up the cause of fighting for gender equality. Whether or not you believe in all the issues at hand I urge you to go to heforshe.org and make a difference for yourself and everyone in this world. As a woman myself I have certainly experienced the repercussions of gender inequality...male guests have spoken down to me at the front desk and at the concierge desk just because of my gender. I have experienced the occasional catcall which makes me feel uncomfortable and disrupts my daily work. Even walking to my car I sometimes feel afraid to walk to my car alone in the dark. Most travel writers are men but I am determined to make my dream a reality. I will not be conformed into thinking that this not a field I can find success in. I want to see the world and feel comfortable to walk on unknown streets, to experience rich cultures, lets make the world a better place for both men and women.
