I wanted to share this family heirloom picture/post card with my fb friends. These are enlarged photos of an old post card (written in 1918) that we recently had framed. We found this post card with my (deceased) Aunts belongings stored in my Mommas attic several years ago. The card was written (by an unidentified family friend) to my Great-grandparents during World War I. The message is in reference to their son (my Grandfather-Paul Candler), who at the time was serving in the War. Though, the original postcard has no monetary value, the sentimental value to me is priceless. We recently decided to have a copy of the post card enlarged and we also had a custom made frame built for it. It is interesting to note it only took 2 cents to send the card and that house numbers and zip codes were not used during this period of time. In four years, the original postcard will be 100 years old. Its a wonder the post card was never lost or thrown away considering my Aunt Pauline Candler had retired from the Air Force and she traveled the world throughout her entire career. I can only assume that like me, she too was a little sentimental.
