I wanted to take time to acknowledge the celebration of Coach Tuckers life. True there is a sorrow and sadness in the passing of life, but joy is just a celebration away... Coming together for his funeral, allowed me a personal celebration just by the people he brought together. Because of who he was, the people gathered could easily represent a 30/40 yr reunion. I am greatful for the people I got to see again. Almost all were known or familiar to me, however some were really special. Topping the academic list...Mr Durdunji...huge mentor/motivator...when I became president of Mu Alpha Theta, he told me I had just made history...First Black president. I hope he has a gold mounted Good Work stamp somewhere in his possession. Coach Lawler, I learned the art of sarcasm and wit. Nothing has changed, he is the same. Fellow classmates, special shout outs. Susan Jean Hargett, Rene, Sharon Steien....some bonds remain regardless. The occasion may have one of sadness....but the rewards, for me , great joy. I could see the smile, hear the laughter, feel the embrace. Social media is great...but I miss the human touch. May we have occasion to come together again, on a happier note. #newmemories
