I wanted to talk to you guys a little bit about NUTRITION: Im sure by now you may have heard the saying IIFYM, IF IT FITS YOUR MACROS MY THOUGHTS: Is it a MYTH? ABSOLUTELY not, the science behind building muscle is pretty clear and it shows that if you take in the proper MACROnutrients at the proper ratios you will build muscle! I believe that the original idea of IIFYM has been over exaggerated by society, an example of this would be seeing someone eating a pop tart POST WORKOUT to spike insulin levels. While the original idea behind IIFYM was to be able to loosen the dietary reins and allow individuals to have a macronutrient dense dinner out with friends instead of being confided to a spinach and tilapia salad. While the pop tart may carry the macronutrients, the micronutrients are counterproductive. THE EXTREMES OF IIFYM: As you may see gains from eating heavy loaded beef pizza, or burgers for days... YOU WILL NOT ACHIEVE YOUR ULTIMATE GOAL which IF you are following my page you hopefully believe in living a healthy balanced and sustainable lifestyle. WHY? Taking in foods like hormone pumped beef, processed enriched grains, and fats from little debbie snacks WILL HURT your organs in the long run, causing inflammation, deteriorating the natural flora of your digestive system, increasing cholesterol levels, and opening up the door for illness and heart disease (just to name a few) . FINAL THOUGHTS: In reality the IIFYM model on dieting isnt a horrible approach. ONLY WHEN the concept utilizes whole, nutritious foods on a 90% basis to reach the assigned macronutrient and caloric requirements in which your body needs. This allows 10% for that night out where you can indulge. Not only has this approach helped hundreds of my teams clients/customers. It has proven to be more successful than complete rigidity, and it helps keep you sane. So when it comes down to it, IIFYM done correctly can be a great approach to dieting, but like I said, ONLY when done correctly. So dont go out and buy a whole box of pop tarts or toaster strudels because that is the INCORRECT WAY!
