I wanted to update you on Sandy. She remains in the CCU. She has come a long way. She is off of all of the IVs except for an antibiotic. All things seem relatively stable in regards to the heart. Her kidneys are still not functioning and she still has high levels of ammonia in her blood which causes her not to wake. She is on regular dialysis instead of the 24 hour variety. It did not lower her BP which is good. While I was there today, she did open her eyes for me. It was not very long but after doing it several times seems to indicate she is making progress towards awakening. If it continues in the comatose state until Tuesday,she will need a tracheotomy. So hopefully she will improve in this area.
