I wanted to warn international contest entrants that we’ve been - TopicsExpress

I wanted to warn international contest entrants that we’ve been experiencing delays in postal service, particularly to the UK. It used to take a few weeks. It’s now taking up to 3 months, and we’ve been hearing from disgruntled winners. We haven’t changed our shipping options and can only hope this is a temporary situation. We have had winners ask why we don’t upgrade to a trackable shipping option. Given the sheer number of prizes I send, I simply cannot afford that. My annual postal bill for contests alone is over $2000—shipping even within Canada is not cheap! I believe most readers would not want me to cut my contests in half to provide faster shipping. To deal with the current issue, we’ve instituted a few measures: 1) There’s now a warning on the contest FAQ re: international shipping delays 2) International winners will be sent their shipping receipt (which includes the recipient’s address) as proof of mailing 3) With that receipt, international winners will be specifically warned that it could take 3 months for their prize to arrive I’m hoping this will clarify the problem and eliminate e-mails from upset winners. If you do win a book and we have sent you the receipt, that is really all we can do—prove that we shipped it to the address provided. Lost mail is extremely rare and usually only occurs when a winner has moved or provided an incorrect address. Please be patient. We will only replace undelivered prizes in the event that we made a typo error in the shipping address (where the address on the receipt does not match the one provided by the reader.)
