I was 16, with my parents in a crowded marketplace of Jorhat, and it took me weeks to get over it. Mainly because my mother smacked that assholes face right that instant. I felt safe. But sadly, she wasnt with me all the other times. Every now and then after some rape we see numerous public protests and shares on Facebook.. But it fades.. The men (safe ones) around us need to be more alert, what they dont know is that ALL girls have been groped in public places, fondled whenever the men (sick ones) wanted.. Their sisters, best friends, girlfriends..but we never shared this.. I think we need to tell them now. Think of the first time it happened to you publicly, and put your status as I was ___, at____, and it took me ____ to get over it. (Just like I did) I know its horrible I cried for days when it happened to me.. But this isnt something we need to learn to deal with when we are just kids.. Please, I think its time your brothers and guy friends know that its more common than they think it is.. almost all the girls they hang out with have gone through this.. They need to know the alarming situation.. Do it! Only if you believe it will help.
