I was Born in the Projects on Dequindre , back in 1950 didnt make it to St. Frances Hospital till I was born, I love and miss Hamtramck so much back in the days when I grew up no better place to be raised back then didnt have to lock your doors never seen a Man that would hurt a little Girl maybe there were but I never seen any, we would take our Mothers blanket and put it over the clothes line and pound clothes pins in the bottom to hold it down put another blanket on the ground and me and friends were in there would bring stuff and have picnics or what great times then in back of the projects by the railroad tracks we would see I guess back then a hobo? they were nice men , he would teach us kids how to bake a potato in the ground wow no better potato, burnt and all,I tried to have my Husband make me 1 just to have 1 again it just wasnt the same I guess it was the Hobo touch? lol. Great times Great Place to be raised back then!!! oh how I miss them days poor and all we didnt know we were poo didnt have all this fancy stuff they have now we just played marbles, hop scotch jump rope and my favorite street skating with shoes on and had the key to tighten onto my shoes! then Ice Skating @ the Hamtramck park with the best hot chocolate and hot dogs! kick the can we invented our own games ,,,if only could go back in time and all the older Ladys who liked u would have u in there home and give u a snack and kool-aide,I still have my Ice skates and roller skates with the key!!! displayed in a Coke a cola wagon someone made me along with my slinkey the metal kind now there plastic? a pet rock still in the box and lets not forget an old Barbie doll sorry about going on so much but I loved my child hood of being poor and didnt have much and when u got something small u were so happy for what you had, kids and the things they have today is crazy, and stealing from ea, other, because of them not having what they have well I never heard of stealing from ea, other we shared and would wait for the Bator Brothers truck for ice cream and the good humor truck for ice cream and sometime they would let me ride on there trucks with them? I felt so special ,,well sorry I could say a lot more but I would have to write a book ? on the child hood I loved so much poor and all ,sorry so long but hope u agree that Hamtramck was a Great Place to be back in those yrs,!!!!
